Air Spiker Build- PvP
I think this is a fairly standard build, but I've been playing around with it a fair bit, and it's good fun.
Air Magic- 16 (12,3,1)
Death Magic- 9 (I think, whatever one gives you 70 energy)
Energy Storage- rest + minor rune.
Weapons: My preference is a 20/20 staff with an enchanting mod and armour +5.
Okay, the skills.
1. Lightning Strike
2. Enervating Charge
3. Lightning Orb
4. Optional slot, it depends on what I'm fighting and my team. In CA I'll probably run Aura of Rest, in Tombs it'll be Chain Lightning, Blinding Flash, Lightnign Javelin, depends really. Actually, I wouldn't mind some advice on what to put in here.
5. Consume Corpse
6. Air Attunement
7. Elemental Attunement [E]
8. Res sig- you're probably not going to go down first, bring it.
Okay, the idea is to get the Attunes up (Elemental First) then cover with Aura of Rest if you have it. Chances are a Warrior or ranger will run forward first, hit them with Enervating Charge then change target. It's the usual spike, Orb, Enervating Charge then Strike, Put Chain Lightning in at the start if you have it. Change target and repeat, your energy will not go down fast if you maintain the Attunes it's a good idea to check with the monks and see if they can get a long Aegis up to help cover you. These spells are extremely spammable, you can dish out a fair amount of damage.
Now, the reason for Consume Corpse is corpse control for your team, stop the enemy necro's from exploiting corpses (really needed against a good iway team). The second someone goes down I'll hit consume, normally before trying to res etc. This also can keep your health and give you an energy boost if you're getting hit by an e-denail mesmer.
I'm planning on running this build with my guild, hopefully getting another Air ele that will run enchant removal or Blinding Flash, and a Ranger with Phantom Pain and Shatter Delusions, followed up with Duel Shot, Quick Shot, Savage Shot, hopefully resulting in a good mini-spike.
My experience with the Necro line is limited though, I've ran some curses with my water ele, but never any Death Magic. Any advice on a skill I could take in the optional slot would be appreciated.
So what do you guys think? Is Corpse Control on an Air Ele a good idea? I've ran it in tombs a few times, with reasonable success, in that the build is doing what I want it to do. In CA it's pretty fantastic, provided you've got an okay team you can bring down people fairly quickly, and you heal yourself a fair amount with Aura of Rest. Although success in CA doesn't mean much to me...
